Director

A native of Calais now residing in Veazie, Maine, Barb has deep family roots in the communities surrounding the lake.  Her Brown family ancestors landed in Alexander after arriving from England.  Her grandfather, C. Arnold Brown of Woodland, owned property in Alexander from Route 9 to the lake, abutting the Flat and Berry Roads in the mid-1900s.  Her great aunt on her mother's side, Bertha Dewar Chase, owned a camp in Sunset Cove which was later sold to the Eaton family.  And anyone whose family has been on the lake for a while probably had her father, Attorney Francis A. Brown, prepare their deed or do other legal work for them.  Although her family had a camp on Pleasant Lake for several years in the 1970s, she was destined to be on Meddybemps some day!

After the sudden passing of her mother in 1994, Barb and her husband decided to search for lakefront property so that they would always have a place to call their own in Washington County.  That year, the opportunity arose to buy a rundown camp on Murray Point Road in Staples Cove.  The following year, a new camp was built, and the Daltons now enjoy as much time as possible “upta camp”!
