Students commented “Before this project,  we had never heard of the American Chestnut tree, but we learned of the value and how they were wiped out”.

“As a teacher,  I am pleased to have the opportunity to get the students outside the classroom and participate in authentic research and do some real learning close to home.”-   Debbie Jamieson,  Biology Teacher

“These authentic field experiences allowed students to apply the scientific method, analyze real-world data, and connect classroom learning to local conservation efforts. There is no better learning than experiences that take place in the field, and this partnership between the school and the Meddybemps Lake Land Trust strengthened the connection between science education and real-world application.”   - Board Member Amanda Belanger, Superintendent AOS 90, Baileyville, Princeton, East Range II
